Dear Friend,
We are very pleased that you are interested to join us on this retreat. On this page there is some more practical information to help you get a feel for the retreat. If you feel like joining us please fill out the registration form by following the link at the bottom of the page.

Throughout our time together we will offer instructions to bring together contemplation, inquiry and meaningful action to foster spiritual and social transformation.

Working together to support a meaningful cause aimed to alleviate poverty and suffering in places we may never visit can be a deeply satisfying experience. When combined with periods of meditation, inquiry, sharing and presence, expressing our care for the world in this way can be deeply nourishing, joyful and insightful.

We hope this opportunity to manifest the spirit of care and compassion in the world will allow us to experience directly the "interwovenness" of the human community on this precious and beautiful planet.

More about Tools for Self Reliance

Each year Tools for Self Reliance ships tens of thousands of high-quality refurbished tools and sewing machines to projects in Tanzania, Uganda, Ghana, Zambia, Sierra Leone and Malawi. They also help hundreds of men and women get the skills they need to succeed. With every tool shipment, Tools for Self Reliance hopes to move one step closer to putting the rural poor of Africa on the path to prosperity and self-reliance.

Cost

The cost of the retreat is £150. This covers accommodation, food and Tools for Self Reliance administrative and accommodation costs and Kirsten's travel expenses.

Accommodation

Participants will be able to stay in very basic building with 12 bunk beds (4 sleeping places in each room) or to camp on the site. Tools for Self Reliance Head quarters is surrounded by a spacious, green area, with trees and open fire place. The cooking will be shared between all of us. We will be cooking our meals in the house where the four young long-term volunteers are staying and will share their kitchen with them.

The retreat will be facilitated by Kirsten Kratz and Jenny Wilks.
