Thank you for your interest in this meeting. Here are further details of the event.
Earlier in the year SanghaSeva hosts a Being Peace retreat. This includes welcoming an international group to stay in Palestine. In this time of Climate Catastrophe and a world still affected by COVID-19 we know travelling is not possible for all of us.
On the Being Peace retreat we listen to our Palestinian hosts, learning about their life and their struggles, and learning from their resilience and capacity for joy. We would also do some positive actions alongside them, as a contribution to the productivity and beauty of the land of Palestine, and as a further way to foster friendship, solidarity, and connection.
This evening is an opportunity to replicate some of what happens:
Although we can't work
along side each other in the fields and villages online, we can still meet to hear about each other's lives.
This is
so valuable on so many levels. We can't take away all the difficulties by listening, and sharing our support.
But we have heard from our Palestinian friends it does make a difference to meet and share.
The evening also exists as an opportunity for us to support a wonderful initiative called Spring Up Foundation. They offer scholarships and bursaries to help less well-off students pursue further education and training, returning to them their "hopeful future". You are invited to offer a donation to them: this isn't a charge for the evening you are equally welcome to come, listen, and participate fully without donating at this time.
We will meet at 19.30 Palestine time (17.30 UK time) to open the session. The whole meeting will last for about an hour and a half to two hours. Everyone is welcome.
Once we're all present we will hear from people in Palestine, sometimes from places where we would normally be hosted on our in-person retreats, sometimes we can reach to more distant friends. They will share how their lives are these days, how the situation of their lives is impacting them and their families, and what they feel is needed next. From here we'll open to questions, inviting a conversation and further sharing.
This time, thanks to Spring Up Foundations connections, we hope to hear from people from the West Bank about the challenges and visions they have working for peace under occupation.
The meeting will take place via Zoom, the link will be sent to you only when you register your email address below.
SanghaSeva will cover all the costs of putting this evening together. But we would like to use this meeting as a way to contribute to those in Palestine who are struggling.
We wish to make this a safe place to meet so we can have an interesting, enlightening, and sensitive conversation. For this reason we are not publishing the meeting ID on our website.
To register your interest for this evening, and receive the meeting ID, password, and direct link in your email inbox please fill out the form below.
Please note: upon filling the form you will be forwarded to a page where you can make a donation to support those struggling to get an education in Palestine at this time. We wish to make it easy to make a donation, yet you don't need to make a donation to receive the information about the meeting. Everyone is welcome: there is no charge or fee for this meeting.
